The Left parties argued in the Lok Sabha that without specifying the provision under which a 50% increase in seats was promised after delimitation, the Union government was doing injustice to the states that had done well in population control.
Communist Party of India (CPI-M) Marxist MP S Venkatesan and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) MP NK Premachandran said the bill, if passed in its current form, would take away the constitutional rights of southern states.
