
The India Meteorological Department has forecast scorching conditions and hot and humid conditions for isolated areas of central, eastern and peninsular India during the week. The IMD has issued an orange warning for rain in Jammu, Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh as it predicted isolated hailstorm today. He further indicated that isolated heavy rainfall, lightning and thundershowers are likely over Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya till April 19 and Arunachal Pradesh during the next 3 days.

Besides, the meteorological department has predicted hot and humid weather for Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal till April 22. Goa region can expect similar weather conditions today, while residents of coastal Gujarat can brace themselves for hot and humid weather today and tomorrow. Moving to the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, the weather will remain hot and humid for the next 4 days and another three days in Andhra Pradesh.
The IMD predicted: “A gradual increase in maximum temperatures over central India likely by 2°C” by 19 April “and a gradual decrease of 2-3°C on 20-21 April and no significant change on 22 April”.
Prevailing weather conditions indicate that “fairly widespread light to moderate thundershowers, gusty winds with lightning (speeds reaching 30-50 km/h) are likely to disperse over Arunachal Pradesh during 18-20th.
Today’s weather in Delhi
Delhi’s Safdarjung primary weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3°C on Thursday, marking a peak of about 1°C in maximum temperatures. Residents of the state capital can expect a gradual increase in maximum temperatures of 1-2°C and another 3 days without significant changes and then a drop of 1-2°C. The IMD said maximum temperatures will remain above normal to markedly above normal during the next 7 days. Today, the meteorological office also predicted a gradual increase in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C.
