More than two months after a new ₹22 crore car underpass was opened, an asphalt-drilled service lane on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) near the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Puttuthakku, a border village of Vellore-Ranipet districts, has not been re-laid, jeopardizing the passage of state ambulances and hundreds of motorists daily.
Motorists said the service lane, especially towards Chennai, was not re-laid for many months as traffic was diverted on the stretch to facilitate smooth progress of work on the new underpass.
