More than 230 kg of ganja was destroyed in the Villupuram hills
Police destroyed 233.10 kg ganja at Thenmelapakkam in Chengalpattu district on Tuesday. The contraband was part of several seizures made in different districts in the Villupuram range.
The ganja was destroyed in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Villupuram Range) A. Arularas and Cuddalore District Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla.
According to the police, a total of 233.10 kg of ganja, seized in 213 cases registered at various police stations in Cuddalore, Villupuram and Kallakurichi districts, was destroyed. Ninety cases were registered in Villupuram district, followed by 88 in Kallakurichi and 35 in Cuddalore district.
The contraband material was safely destroyed at a private biomedical waste disposal unit in Thenmelapakkam in accordance with legal procedures. During the disposal of confiscated contraband in the incinerator, high-ranking officials from the respective districts were present.
