The former main Minister of Jamm and Kashmir and the president of the Democratic Party Peoples (PDP) Mehboob Mufti on Monday (July 21, 2025) called on the leader and leader of the opposition (LOP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to be in a transitional parliament.
In a letter to Mr. Gandhi, Mrs. Mfti emphasized the cases based on Assam and the ongoing Bihar survey. “It seems to be another effort to eliminate, Disempower and forgiveness of Muslims,” she said.
She said that the terrorist attack of Pahalgam, Sindoor Operations and other security matters may dominate the meeting of parliament, and called on the Indian block, especially Congress, “to ensure that the fears of Muslim communities are not ignored in national discussions”.
She said that Muslims, in the garment of the “Bangladesh” and “Rohingyas” identification, “were pushed into desperate situations”. “Some were even forced into the sea in an attempt to exclude them from India,” Mrs. Mufti said, referring to media messages.
She referred to the extensive demolition of Muslim houses in Assam as “deeply worrying”.
“Protection of Congress” secular heritage ‘
Mrs. Muftti said that the Muslims who stayed in India during the section did so because they trusted the secular leadership congresses from Mahatma Gandhi to Jawaharlal nezru. “This is now being protected,” PDP President said.
Mrs. Muftti said that when the Hindes were focused in countries such as Pakistan or Bangladesh, the Indian government responded strongly. “But when Muslims are focused on Muslims in India, silence is led by fear,” she added.
President PDP said that as a leader from one of the few Muslim main regions that decided to join the Indian Union, she felt “helpless sometimes”. “I will hope to lead Rahula Gandhi and call on him to speak for the community that is pushed on the margins of society,” she recalled.
