A significant drop in maximum temperature was observed in Telangana; from 46°C in April last week, the maximum temperature in the state dropped to 42°C on Thursday (May 7, 2026). Maximum temperatures in 33 districts were over 42°C a week ago, 38.9°C a day ago.
A high of 42°C at Adavi Devula Palli in Nalgonda on Thursday was followed by 41.8°C at Kaddam Peduri in Nirmal and 41.7°C at Mangapet in Mulugu, according to a daily report by the Telangana Development Planning Society.
Temperatures in urban areas
The maximum temperature in Hyderabad was 40.7°C, 39.9°C in Rangareddy and 39.6°C in Medchal Malkajgiri. Maximum temperatures in three city districts reached 42 °C a week ago.
Very light to moderate rain was recorded in 162 out of 621 mandals in the state on Thursday.
Thunderstorm forecast in 12 districts of Telangana
The India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad Center on Thursday predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds as very likely on Friday (May 8, 2026), in isolated parts of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangako, Mahangabubad, V. Mahabubnagar.
