Marada’s municipality imposed a sentence of 2 lakh per persons who were reportedly found by waste of waste along the road near the Gregorian public school.
“The medical wing identified them on the basis of inputs provided by people who saw them interpreting waste. The vehicle used for dumping was also confiscated. The defendants were natives of Thripunithura, Antony Asanparamtil, chairman of Marada, said in communication.”
He added that the event was taken on the basis of measures initiated by officials of the pure urban wing of the civic body. “Strict steps will be taken against those who throw away waste into the limits of the municipality in violation of standards. Those who share information about illegal waste dumping will receive remuneration, as stipulated by the Ministry of local governments,” he said.
In July 2024, the city council imposed a fine of 1 lakh per housing complex near Kunnoor after medical officials found illegal release of untreated waste water into public outflow.
