Manufacturing is the backbone of strong economies, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday (Dec 17, 2025), while claiming that manufacturing in India is declining.
The country needs to build meaningful manufacturing ecosystems to accelerate growth, Mr Gandhi said in a social media post after touring BMW Welt and the BMW plant in Munich.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, who is on a visit to Germany, said the highlight of the BMW tour was seeing the TVS 450cc motorcycle, developed in collaboration with BMW.
“Had the opportunity to experience the world of BMW in Munich, Germany with a tour of BMW Welt and the BMW plant – an incredible view of world-class manufacturing up close,” Mr Gandhi said in an Instagram post.
“Unfortunately, manufacturing is declining in India. To accelerate growth, we need to produce more – build meaningful manufacturing ecosystems and create high-quality jobs on a large scale,” Gandhi said.
