“This operation follows recent atrocities committed by UKNA cadres, including the killing of a village chief, intimidation of local residents and attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region. The successful neutralization of these terrorists underscores the commitment of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles to protect innocent civilians, mitigate all threats and ensure peace and security in Manipur,” the statement further said. UKNA was mostly active in Churachandpur district.
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki community, condemned the “armed operation by paramilitary forces on UKNA” and termed the incident as a “grave injustice”. It said the encounter had caused “deep pain and outrage among the Kuki-Zo community”.
KIM reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful dialogue and cooperation with the Center for a “durable and honorable resolution”, warning that “continued targeted actions against our community seriously undermine trust and threaten peace efforts”.
