Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Roy Keane have buried the hatchet after a candid chat
Roy Keane has revealed he recently cleared the air with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes following a fallout over comments linked to his Premier League record assist record. The trouble started when Fernandes took exception to Keane’s remarks during an appearance at The Overlap. The former United captain hinted that Fernandes admitted to preferring a pass to a shot in a bid to increase his assists.

However, Fernandes later pointed out that Keane had misrepresented his words. Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, the Portuguese midfielder explained that his original comments had been misinterpreted and expressed his intention to discuss the matter directly with the United legend.
The pair have since spoken, with Keane describing the conversation as a positive one that helped clear up their misunderstanding.
“He apologized, I forgave him, no problem,” Keane joked. “Oh no, it was a good conversation.
“After what we said on the podcast a few weeks ago, there was a reaction and he reached out and wanted to chat, I called him and we had a great chat.
“Lovely chat about everything, but it was nice because when we do podcasts or games, sometimes you think you’re going to say something and communicate something and it doesn’t come out right, so people get upset and he said he wanted to talk to me.”
“And we had a nice, mature conversation. It was beautiful. A beautiful conversation.”
‘TRULY ENJOYED IT’
Keane said he likes to keep his distance from players but it was nice to see Fernandes reach out to him and the conversation was fine.
“I like to have a boundary with players. I don’t want to talk to players every few weeks or their agents, I don’t want to go down that road, but every now and then a player can reach out so it was important for me to talk to him.”
“There’s been a lot going on and a lot of reporting. He’s obviously a big United player, I’m an ex-United player and I really enjoyed the idea of communicating and having a proper conversation. Hopefully he does too.”
“Nice chat about a bit of everything and I felt better afterwards,” said Keane.
Fernandes finished the season with 21 assistsand set a Premier League record.
