
A 36-year-old man from Odisha has been sentenced to five years in jail and fined ₹25,000 for illegally transporting five kilograms of ganja from Odisha to Sangaredda. The verdict was delivered by the Sangareddy First Class next session court on Friday.
The accused, identified as Sarjita Biswas of Malkangiri district of Orissa, had traveled to Sangaredda in 2019 with the intention of selling the substance. He was apprehended by HA Law Enforcement Sub-Inspector Mohan Kumar following which a case was registered and investigation started.
After the trial, the court convicted Biswas and sentenced him to five years in prison. The sentence comes on the same day four others were sentenced to ten years in a separate ganja trafficking case by the same court.
