
Police Gandhinagar arrested a man for stinging a man in the parking area of the Faculty of Medicine in Kottayam. The accused, identified as Chandran (49), is a native of Villappilsaly, Thiruvananthapuram and has several criminal cases against him.
The incident occurred last Friday when the accused attacked Thomas (53) drivers from Thirvvally with a knife. The attack was reportedly launched after Thomas asked Chandran to throw himself near the shed near the parking space. Chandran, angry, pulled a knife out of the bag and stabbed him on his chest.
There were no eyewitnesses and most CCTV cameras in the area were inoperative. The driver had no previous acquaintance with the attacker. With a mere vague description that the accused had long hair and beard and wore in a blue shirt, the police started an intensive search.
Based on local questions, especially between beggars and scrap collectors, the police traced Chandran’s presence in this area.
