Congress leaders led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy called on AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge during his brief stopover in Hyderabad en route to Gulbarga on Sunday (May 31, 2026).
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana Chief Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Government Advisor Harkara Venugopal Rao and AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar were among those who met the Congress President and exchanged views on political and organizational matters.
Later, at the Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud held a separate meeting with Mr Kharg and joined him for breakfast. During the meeting, Mr. Goud briefed the Congress president about the resolutions and discussions held at the recent TPCC Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, where a decision was taken to ensure that ministers set aside one day a week for party programmes.
He also informed Mr. Kharge about the ongoing programs and organizational activities of the party in Telangana. Sources said the discussions focused on strengthening the Congress organization in the state and reviewing the progress of various policy initiatives being taken by the party leadership.
The meeting takes on significance amid rumors that Mr Goud is pushing for a cabinet seat in the next enlargement. However, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy rubbished these rumours, saying that their combination will face the next elections and emerge victorious.
