
The Karnataka Lokayukta on Thursday arrested two officials of the Greater Bengaluru Authority for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3,000.
The complainant, Nyamathulla Khan, a resident of Heggade Nagar, approached the Lokayukta alleging that his khata-related work was pending with officials and they were demanding a bribe to clear the khata.
The accused officials have been identified as Venkatesh, a tax inspector at Geddalahalli in Thanisandra ward, and Srinivas, a tax inspector of the same ward. The accused demanded a bribe of ₹3,000 for clearing the backlog of khata work related to the complainant’s building, officials said.
Srinivas was apprehended while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant. Both accused were taken into custody.
The operation was supervised by DySP Poovaiah KC while the trap was conducted by Police Inspector Maruthi G. Nayaka and his team from Lokayukta Bengaluru City-2. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police K. Vamsikrishna, IPS.
