YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained by the Delhi Police from his residence in Gurugram’s Sector 56 on Saturday ahead of a proposed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, police sources said.

45 Delhi Metro stations will remain closed ahead of CJP’s protest

Entry and exit gates at 45 Delhi Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Central Secretariat and Kashmere Gate, will remain closed from 9pm on Friday to 6pm on Saturday for security reasons ahead of the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar.

In a revised update, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) cut the list from the 57 stations announced earlier and said the situation will be assessed by security agencies, while the interchange facility will remain available at all affected stations except New Delhi.

CJP condemns Dhruv Rathee’s detention says ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ begins

– The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday condemned the detention of influencer-activist Dhruv Rathee from his Gurugram home and announced the start of its ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest.

– The armed forces demanded that he and hundreds of other youths, who were detained on their way to the Jantar Mantar protest site, be released immediately.

The CJP’s protest was against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party cited allegations of electoral roll manipulation and Form 6 alteration.

New Delhi is turning khaki, waves of barricades lining the streets ahead CJP protest

-Loudspeakers blared warnings, multi-layered barricades blocked key intersections and thousands of security forces stood guard ahead of a protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at the fort-like Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Near the quiet protest site, there was a police presence at the Patel Chowk roundabout.

– Paramilitary companies in green and khaki uniforms, BSF and Rapid Action Force (RAF), laden with heavy knapsacks, tactical gear and rifles, marched in formation with the city police to gather around the Parliament Street police station a few meters away.

-Parliament Street and Ashoka Road, the roads surrounding Jantar Mantar, were alive with police activity and along with media vans were too congested for the time of day.

-Several members of the Delhi Police, accused of excesses during the previous protest, were wearing body cameras.

-The buses dropped by the security forces were parked along the road near the police station.
