Ten left-wing parties condemned the joint military action by the United States and Israel against Iran, calling it a serious violation of international law and Iranian sovereignty.
In a joint press statement, the parties condemned the attack on Iranian territory, including strikes near Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s residence and on civilian targets such as schools.
Statements were issued by V. Srinivas Rao of CPI(M), G. Eshwaiah of CPI, P. Prasad of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) New Democracy, B. Bangarraju of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Katam Nagabhushanam of Jasti Kinithanu Communist Party Babushore of Jasti Kinithanu Communist Party Babi Shrami Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), BS Amarnath of Socialist Unity Center of India (Communist), PV Sundararama Raju of All India Forward Bloc and Janaki Ramulu of Revolutionary Socialist Party along with Y. Ramakrishna representing CPI (ML) New Democracy.
They criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel and claimed that India’s stance represented a complete 360-degree turn from the traditional support of Palestinian rights by previous Indian governments.
The joint attack on Iran came days after the prime minister’s visit, suggesting a link between India’s foreign policy orientation and the ongoing conflict, they said.
Left leaders demanded that the Indian government formally condemn the strikes on Iran. They called on peaceful citizens to oppose what they see as a shift in Indian politics and urged global solidarity with the Iranian people against “imperialist aggression”.
They described the bombing as an act of imperialist aggression, highlighting the killing of innocent children and civilians as evidence of extreme disregard for human life. They said the attacks violated the United Nations Charter and numerous global agreements and called on democratic forces and citizens to reject such actions.
Leaders condemned Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, saying attacks against Palestinian civilians continued despite cease-fire announcements.
