KTR claims Congress is grabbing ground

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao addressing the general body meeting of BRS Parigi assembly constituency on Friday.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged that the Congress government was forcibly acquiring allotted land belonging to Dalits, tribals and poor farmers in the name of industrial development and promised that BRS would extend legal and political support to the affected families.

Addressing the general body meeting of the BRS assembly constituency on Friday, Parigi claimed that the Congress had gone back on its election promise to grant property rights to the allottees. Now it was taking the allocated land under the guise of establishing industrial parks.

Referring to the Lagacherla land acquisition dispute, Mr. Rama Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of targeting farmers who refused to part with their land. He alleged that police cases were registered against them, tribals were jailed and subjected to harassment.

The BRS leader claimed that his party would not allow poor farmers to expropriate their allotted land in Parigi. If the government is really committed to industrial development, it should first grant patties to allotted landowners, pay them adequate compensation and acquire land only with the farmers’ consent.

Questioning the government’s irrigation plans for the Parigi region, Mr. Rama Rao alleged that while the BRS government had proposed water supply through a gravity system, the current government had opted for a ₹4,400 crore irrigation scheme to facilitate commissions.

The former minister also attacked the chief minister over his promise to make women millionaires millionaires. He said if the government credits every eligible woman with ₹1.5 million, he will retire from politics permanently.
