J&K’s Kishtwar district on Monday (December 21, 2025) saw a shutdown and street protests over attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh following the recent killing of student leader Osman Bin Hadi.
Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar headed by Mahant Ramsharan Das Acharya issued a bandh call. The bandh call was supported by BJP leaders. The shutdown resulted in the closure of the market at Kokila Chowk in the city.
“Kokila Chowk market remained closed as part of ongoing protests. People are protesting attacks and persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh after the killing of Hadi. One Hindu worker was lynched and temples and religious places are being attacked. We want to send a message from Kishtwar that we stand with the Hindu leader of Bangladesh.
Protesters raised anti-Bangladesh and pro-Sanatan slogans during the street demonstrations. BJP J&K unit submits memorandum to President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister.
“The memorandum will record people’s sympathy and solidarity with Bangladeshi Hindus. We have also demanded intervention from the Indian government to stop attacks on Hindus and temples in Bangladesh,” Mr. Sharma said.
The protesters said atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh should end immediately.
