Kimi Antonelli made it five wins in a row and became the youngest to win the Monaco GP

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli continued his remarkable Formula One season by winning the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, becoming the youngest driver ever to win the iconic race and extending his winning streak to five consecutive races.

The 19-year-old Italian produced another composed performance on the streets of Monte Carlo as he overcame a dramatic late-race red flag to strengthen his grip on the Drivers’ Championship.

Starting from pole position, Antonelli controlled the driving for most of the afternoon and appeared set for a comfortable victory before a late incident halted the race.

ANTONELLI DOMINATES FROM THE POLE

Antonelli entered the Monaco weekend as the championship leader and produced a near-flawless performance when it mattered most.

After securing pole position in qualifying, the Mercedes driver got off to a clean start and gradually built up a considerable lead over the chasing pack. Monaco’s tight streets often make overtaking impossible, but Antonelli made sure he stayed out of reach with a combination of pace, consistency and smart tire management.

However, his lead was erased late in the race when Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc crashed in the final corner, damaging the track surface and forcing race officials to throw out a red flag.

The break lasted about 40 minutes as workers repaired the circuit and prepared for a thrilling sprint to the finish.

RED FLAG CREATES A FRESH CHALLENGE

The race continued with a solid start, effectively creating a second match for the riders at the front.

Despite losing the comfortable cushion he had built up over the field, Antonelli remained calm under pressure. After the restart, he maintained his lead into the opening corner and controlled the closing laps to secure another memorable victory.

“I wasn’t really interested in the restart, but as soon as the announcement came out, I collected my emotions and refocused,” Antonelli said after the race.

“Once I got away and he was in first place in the first corner, I was able to enjoy the last couple of laps.

The win marked another milestone in an already historic season for the teenager, who hit the headlines just a year after finishing last on his F1 debut in Monaco.

HAMILTON SECURES SECOND PLACE

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in second place for the second consecutive Grand Prix and continued his recent strong form.

The seven-time world champion also equaled Ayrton Senna’s record of eight Monaco podiums, further cementing his legacy at one of Formula 1’s most prestigious races.

Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar provisionally completed the podium, although a post-race investigation into several incidents left the final classification under review.

Hamilton’s result moved him ahead of George Russell into second in the championship standings, although he remains 66 points behind Antonelli.

ANTONELLI REINFORCES THE TITLE CONTENT

Antonelli’s latest triumph further underlined his emergence as a dominant force in Formula 1 in 2026.

The Italian has now won five races in a row and continues to extend his lead at the top of the drivers’ standings. His victory was also significant in historical terms, making him the first Italian driver to win the Monaco Grand Prix since Jarno Trulli’s triumph in 2004.

“It was an incredible weekend and an incredible race,” said Antonelli.

“We had incredible speed and it all came so naturally and it gave me the confidence to push.”

With momentum firmly on his side, Antonelli heads into the next round as the clear favorite to continue his remarkable title fight.
