Keralam CM VD Satheesan will take a trip down memory lane at the alumni meet

Chief Minister VD Satheesan took a trip down memory lane on Sunday (September 13) and recalled how his days at Panangad High School helped shape his communication skills.

Speaking at an alumni gathering at his alma mater, the chief minister said it was at school that he “learned to speak”. He said the grounding in English he acquired at a Malayalam-medium school gave him the confidence to later deliver speeches in the language, including a lecture at Harvard University.

“Standing here today, I am at a loss for words. It was the teachers here who encouraged me to read and learn. When I joined SH College here after finishing school, I felt an inferiority complex when I listened to other students speak English fluently. But after listening to them carefully, I realized that they make many grammatical mistakes, while our teachers taught me to speak grammar thoroughly.”

Kerala High Court Judge Devan Ramachandran inaugurated the meeting which was attended by Ministers N. Samsudheen, Roji M. John, VE Abdul Gafoor, Hibi Eden, MP and Deputy Speaker Shanimol Osman among others.
