The third generation of BRS chief Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao’s (KCR) family is believed to be ready to foray into politics as Aditya, son of MLC and president of Telangana Jagruthi Kalvakuntal Kavitha, made a surprise appearance at a political event.
Aditya was seen at the Telangana Jagruthi protest during the statewide BC Bandh demanding 42% reservation for Backward Classes. Freshly returned from abroad after completing his studies, the presence of Aditya caught everyone’s attention.
Previously rarely seen in public, he joined his mother at a political demonstration raising slogans and interacting with activists. Dressed casually and confidently, he smiled and evoked admiration and curiosity from the crowds.
An engineering degree holder from the US, Aditya carries his paternal surname Devanapally as does his mother who continues to use her paternal surname Kalvakuntla. Sources close to the family say he is at ease with the public just like his maternal uncle KT Rama Rao.
Although he may be interested in politics, family sources say he is likely to pursue his Masters in the US before returning to serious politics in India. Public speaking can be random and not a well-planned introduction. But going by Ms. Kavitha’s future plans, he is likely to be groomed for future leadership, more so when his cousin (KTR’s son) has not shown any serious political interests yet.
Having distanced herself from her father Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao, Ms. Kavitha must not leave any opportunity to occupy the political space in the family whenever there is a transition from Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao. With Aditya by her side, not only as a son but also as a political backer, Ms. Kavitha can hatch a new plan to consolidate her political authority in the BRS in the future.
