The Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Hamdullah Sayeed asked the Minister to re -evaluate the increase in fees for the Beypore ports, which will largely rely on the Lakshadweep vessels.
In a letter to the Minister Mr. Sayeed, he told that a hike would adversely affect the Lakshadweep vessels, especially in the background of the abolition of personal services from Beypore. While service fees for cranes that raised the load into the ships increased three times, the entrance fee for the vessel to the port has doubled. The fees were raised for tensile services that attract ships to the harbor, as well as for warehouses and drinking water.
Mr. Sayeed expressed concern that a hike would also affect his efforts to restore personal services between Bepore and Lakshadweep.
