Suspended BRS MLC and Telangana president Jagruthi K. Kavitha took a sharp dig at her former party’s leadership after her defeat in the Jubilee Hills Assembly elections, remarking that “karma strikes back”.
Her comment, posted on ‘X’ shortly after the results were announced, set off a fresh round of speculation about deepening rifts as well as serious differences between Ms. Kavitha and the family party, which is now literally headed by her brother KT Rama Rao in the silence of BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
The cryptic post is widely interpreted as an indirect attack on her brother and former minister Mr KT Ram Rao. Ms. Kavitha believes that Mr. Rama Rao was either responsible for her suspension or chose to defend her when her cousins targeted her. Her remark is therefore seen as a calculated attempt to highlight the decline of the party in her absence.
Ms. Kavitha’s reaction reflects a sense of “revenge satisfaction” rather than mere political commentary. Her post shows that she sees the poll result as confirmation of her belief that she played a significant role in the party and that her exclusion contributed to its failures.
The poll result added to the turmoil within the BRS, which has been grappling with internal dissension since its loss in the 2023 Assembly elections. Ms. Kavitha, daughter of Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao, was suspended from the BRS in September after she accused her cousins, senior party leader T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar, of tarnishing her father’s image over the Kaleshwaram project controversy.
