All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen President Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday (November 14) thanked party workers from Bihar and Telangana for their hard work to ensure victory in Seemnachal and Jubilee Hills by-elections.
Mr. Owaisi said his party won in Amour, Baisi, Kochadhaman, Bahadurganj and Jokihat, despite polling in significant numbers in several other constituencies.
Addressing the media at his headquarters in Hyderabad, Mr Owaisi said his party respected the verdict of the people of Bihar. Congratulating and wishing him good luck to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said that the party will work for the development of the state as work needs to be done in terms of employment generation and development of public infrastructure. He reiterated that Seemanchal’s long-standing demands for justice and development would remain at the core of his party’s work. “We will not leave Seemanchal,” he said.
Touching upon the Jubilee Hills by-poll, he thanked the voters of Jubilee Hills for ensuring the victory of AIMIM-backed Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav. “I thank the voters of Jubilee Hills who made Naveen Yadav successful,” he said, adding that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy thanked him and conveyed his felicitations in return. He described the victory as a significant achievement after the 2023 elections.
Commenting on the political developments in Bihar, Mr Owaisi said he had consistently maintained that the Rashtriya Janata Dal could not stop the advance of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He issued a word of warning to the voters of the state, saying they were under a misconception about the Muslim-Yadav combination. He urged the community to stop being mere participants in electoral politics and instead become active political actors.
He also said that the decline in Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s vote share was evident from the beginning. He hoped that Telangana CM Revanth Reddy would work to improve civic amenities in Hyderabad, including improving sewerage networks and water supply, especially for those belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
Asked about the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Mr. Owaisi said it was too early to comment. He added that political parties needed to introspect and get rid of any belief that Muslims represent a captive vote bank or politically connected labour.
