Fans of global rap icon Kanye West, also known as Ye, will have to wait a little longer for his live performance in India. The rapper’s much-anticipated first concert in the country, originally scheduled for March 29 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, has now been postponed by almost two months.
According to a statement from organizers on Monday, the concert will now take place on May 23, 2026, citing the current geopolitical climate as the reason for the delay.

“Due to the prevailing geopolitical situation and regional tensions, the Ye exhibition in New Delhi will now be postponed to May 23, 2026,” the organizers said in an official announcement.
The concert, which was scheduled to start at 8:00 PM, created considerable excitement among Indian fans as it would mark Kanye West’s first ever live performance in India. Despite the postponement, the organizers have confirmed that tickets purchased for the original date will remain valid for the rescheduled May concert. However, details regarding possible refunds for ticket holders have not yet been announced.

Delays linked to rising global tensions
The postponement comes at a time of escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East after the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran has disrupted travel and international event plans.
Interestingly, West is not the only international artist whose Indian plans have been affected in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, Bahraini rapper Flipperachi also canceled his scheduled shows in India, unable to travel amid the same geopolitical uncertainties.
Flipperachi was scheduled to perform at the UN40 Music & Beyond festival in Bengaluru on 14 and 15 March, along with a solo concert in Mumbai on 13 March. However, the shows were eventually canceled due to travel disruptions caused by rising tensions in the region.
The rapper gained popularity among the Indian audience after he lent his vocals to ‘Fa9la’, a track from Aditya Dhar’s period spy thriller Dhurandhar released last year. The film starred Akshay Khanna and became a major talking point after its release.

Fans who were excited to see Flipperachi perform live were left disappointed when the concerts were canceled and the now-postponed Kanye West show joins a growing list of global music events affected by international tensions.
Big moment for Indian fans
The translated concert still remains a landmark for the Indian music scene. Kanye West is one of the most influential figures in world hip-hop and contemporary pop culture.
He has released several hit and critically acclaimed albums over the years. His most popular tracks include “Runaway”, “Heartless”, “Mercy” and “Dark Fantasy”.
The timing of the original concert in India also created excitement as it was to coincide with the release of West’s long-awaited Bully album. The album is scheduled to be released on March 27, just two days before the originally scheduled concert in Delhi.
While fans will now have to wait until May to see the rapper perform live, anticipation for the event is unlikely to die down. If anything, the delay can only add to the excitement as Indian audiences gear up for Ye’s first live performance in the country.
For now, ticket holders and music fans will hope that the geopolitical situation stabilizes so that the long-awaited concert can finally take place in May.
