Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday (Nov 20, 2025) said the Mahayuti partners were fighting each other and termed Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s visit to Delhi as an act of impotence. Addressing the Shikshak Sena in Mumbai, Mr Thackeray said: “They started fighting among themselves. Someone went to Delhi to complain that he was beaten. Why the helplessness?”
He also criticized the ruling alliance for pre-poll sops and said, “Revdi has become the norm now. What others give is revdi and what we do is kindness. That’s what today’s politics is about.”
The remarks came after most Shiv Sena ministers boycotted the weekly cabinet meeting earlier this week over alleged poaching of its leaders by the BJP. After talks between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Mr. Shinde, a truce was reached where it was decided that the Mahayuti partners would not question each other’s members. Mr. Shinde later met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
NCP spokesperson (Sharad Pawar) Clyde Crasto told X that the BJP’s reprimand to Mr Shinde’s ministers appeared “well planned” and suggested the party was “done with using the Shinde-led Sena”.
Posting a photo of Mr Shinde talking to Mr Shah, he wrote: “Mr Devendra Fadnavis is a dutiful leader of BJP and never does anything without the approval of his top leadership, so if he lifts leader Shinde Sena and overlooks Mr Eknath Shinde, then it all seems well planned and well played. That’s why the meeting with Mr Delh Ekna will not be held by Am Shinde. difference.”
The post went on to say, “It is now very clear that BJP is being done with the help of Shinde Sena. Mr. Eknath Shinde needs to wake up and smell the coffee, read the writing on the wall and read between the lines before he is asked to disrespectfully leave.”
In a separate development, BJP leader Ashish Shelar said his party will not enter into any alliance with the Nawab Malik-led NCP faction for the civic polls. “We cannot support Nawab Malik and this was our stand in the Assembly elections last year. We stand by it now and we will take the same stand in the future. It is not Malik as a person but the serious charges he is facing,” Shelar told reporters.
His comments came days after a court framed charges against Mr Malik in a money laundering case linked to the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule has said that her party will hold talks with Uddhav Thackeray and the Congress for a possible alliance under the Maha Vikas Aghadi bloc or INDIA. “We want to take everyone along. A clear picture will emerge next week,” she told reporters, adding that talks with Congress were scheduled soon.
