Guru Randhawa),’ a cross-cultural release that combines Korean, English, Spanish and Punjabi lyrics into a single track. While the collaboration drew attention by bringing two major music markets together, it also sparked intense debate among fans online.
Netizens react to Le Sserafim’s collaboration with Guru Randhawa for Boompala
The song features Punjabi verses from Randhawa along with Le Sserafim’s signature pop sound and a melody inspired by the globally acclaimed ‘Macarena’. The release is seen by many observers as one of the most significant collaborations between mainstream K-pop and South Asian pop music to date.
Despite the high-profile nature of the collaboration, online reactions were sharply divided. Some listeners questioned whether Randhawa’s vocals and musical style suited the overall concept of the song.
One social media user wrote, “Why the hell is guru randhawa on boompala omg it sounds so bad guru don’t embarrass me like this 😭😭😭 (sic)”.
Another commented: “I can’t laugh who listened to guru randhawa and went YEAH THIS GUY IS PERFECT FOR BOOMPALA like idk let’s try someone suitable for the song (sic)”.
