As the investigation into irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) continues, several explosive claims have surfaced. According to a Navbharat report, the Crime Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the case, has responded to JPSC Chairman L Khiangte’s bail application with several documents. Based on the same report, the CBI alleged that several attempts were made to destroy evidence in the alleged examination racket involving JPSC officials, middlemen and a blacklisted examination agency.
Digital evidence destroyed by Khiangte?
Reportedly, the CBI said Khiangte resigned from his post and took away the official laptop along with the pen, the digital evidence of which was removed as confirmed by the forensic investigation. Both devices are said to have been used to erase data and destroy evidence by damaging the hard drive.
The central agency reportedly noted that Khiangte’s resignation came after the commission was raided on July 22, 2026.
The CID announced that it had found substantial evidence of suspicious financial transactions and call records between the former chairman and the alleged middlemen.
Alleged irregularities in 500 OMR sheets
The same Hindi news report further said that more than 350 OMR sheets in the Forest Range Officer exam and more than 150 in the Assistant Conservator of Forest exam were allegedly tampered with.
Alleged price list for candidates
He also listed the fixed price list of the alleged trial syndicate. Allegedly, an organized racket was charging the candidates ₹5 lakhs to meet the preliminary test and ₹10 to ₹25,000 thousand for the final tender.
Several documents including original education certificates, blank signed checks and stamped papers were allegedly taken as money.
TDPL (TSR Data Processing Private Limited) was allegedly entrusted with conducting the June 2025 JPSC exams despite being blacklisted by the JSSC.
Another shocking allegation against former JPSC chairman
The probe agency’s affidavit further alleged that the former probe controller, identified as Asim Kispota, had protested against awarding the contract to blacklisted agency TDPL. However, Khiangte reportedly removed Kispota from examination-related duties and appointed Deputy Controller of Examinations Shweta Kumari Gupta, who reportedly remained in charge after her transfer.
The investigation also reportedly identified TDPL marketing manager Abhay Tiwari as the alleged master operator of the syndicate.
According to the CID, Tiwari appeared for several examinations while simultaneously working for the agency. Allegedly, he successfully passed the exams.
The agency conducted several raids at the JSSC office and questioned the candidates whose selection was found suspicious.
Earlier on Saturday, Khiangte’s bail application was rejected.
On August 10, Khiangte was arrested.
The students are protesting against alleged irregularities in the civil service examination and demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and reforms in the system. The Janta Cockroach Party (CJP) also supported the protest.
