
British cricketer Jamie Spence died in a car crash in New Zealand along with another man, French national Raphael Jean-Gabriel Roellinger. Jamie, who was from Yorkshire, was 28 years old. The accident happened on April 29 near Kinleith in New Zealand’s North Island.Jamie played for Hull Strikers, a local cricket club who described him as one of the most energetic and passionate members of the team. In a heartfelt tribute, the club, as quoted by the Daily Mail, said: “A true member of the Strikers family from the very beginning, Jamie was our youngest, yet one of the most energetic, fun-loving and passionate souls on and off the pitch.

The team dedicated the win to Jamie.The club said the loss had left “a void that can never truly be filled”, adding: “He wasn’t just a player – he was one of this club’s biggest supporters, always bringing energy, passion and a smile that lifted everyone around him.”Jamie’s father Jon attended the game, which the club described as a special and emotional moment for all involved.The club ended their tribute with emotional words for their late team-mate: “This victory is for you.
