JAC demands ₹50,00,000 without remuneration, jobs for relatives of deceased HMWSSB outsourcing employees

The Telangana Outsourcing Employees JAC on Sunday demanded ₹ 50 lakh ex-gratia for the families of each of the three outsourcing employees who died within 24 hours, along with a government job for one member of each family.

The committee demanded an immediate reduction in work pressure, job security and a comprehensive inquiry into the working conditions and salaries paid to outsourced employees at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB).

The JAC leaders were removed by the police on Sunday when they were on their way to call bereaved families. They pointed out the three deaths in the board – Srihari of Moula Ali, Vinay of Peddapur and Kiran Kumar of Qutbullapur and two of the three persons were meters.

According to leaders, the wage delays were adding to financial and mental stress among workers already facing job insecurity, understaffing and increasing workloads. The board should immediately start registering details of outsourced employees in the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMS portal), it demanded. They also opposed the new commission-based tendering policies for reading devices, arguing that such a move could lead to job losses for existing experienced workers.

The leaders included Prithviraj, Puli Lakshmaiah, Balakrishna Reddy, Suresh Goud and others.
