At the heart of it was young spinner Suyash Sharma, who carved his name into the history books of the league with a spell of rare control and accuracy.Suyash delivered 20 dot balls in his four overs, equaling the all-time IPL record for most dot balls in an innings previously achieved by Deepak Chahar while playing for Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019. On Monday, Suyash conceded just seven runs and took a wicket in Delhi, registering one of the most economical four-over spells by a spinner in IPL history. The collapse of the Delhi Capitals was dramatic. Reduced to 8 for 6 in four overs, they never recovered, eventually being bowled out for 75, one of the lowest totals of the season. Contributions from Abishek Porel (30) and David Miller (19) only delayed the inevitable as the RCB bowling unit ran riot. However, the damage started earlier. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood combined for seven wickets, charging their way through the top order with ruthless efficiency. Their powerplay burst saw DC record their lowest ever IPL powerplay score of 13/6, setting the tone for the rout.Royal Challengers Bengaluru were chasing a modest 76 target. Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell completed the chase in just 6.3 overs to seal a nine-wicket win with 81 balls to spare, one of the fastest successful runs in IPL history. While the win underlined RCB’s title, it was Suyash Sharma’s spell that stood out. In a format often dominated by big shots, his ability to suffocate runs and build relentless pressure proved decisive, reaffirming the enduring value of disciplined spin bowling in T20 cricket.
