Gujarat Titans completed the chase with the ball remaining in a tight contest.Despite the defeat, Punjab Kings remain in a strong position in the points table, even after defeats against Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat. They still hold a one-point lead over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. Punjab have played nine games, won six and have 13 points with a net rate of +0.855.“I think in chases like these we would like to not take it as deep as we can but two vital points. This is not the type of wicket where we will be chasing in 15-16 overs. So we were thinking maybe one or a couple of overs before that. That was the talk,” GT captain Shubman Gill said after the match.“If someone is set, they should go deep because it’s not easy to bat from ball 1. The length balls didn’t come like they did on other wickets. It was important for the batsman who is set up… fortunately we had Washi and he finished the game for us. He just bowled the best batting we thought of in that situation (about sending left-handers one at a time),” he added.Gujarat Titans will next face Rajasthan Royals on May 9.
