Pakistan’s T20I opener Sahibzada Farhan has again discussed his experience with Jasprit Bumrah during the Asia Cup 2025. Bumrah is renowned as India’s most imposing bowler in the T20 format, challenging the batsmen at any stage of the game.
Still, Farhan managed to counter Bumrah effectively and hit the Indian pacer for three sixes. This feat set him apart as the only batsman to hit Bumrah for three sixes in T20Is. Farhan amassed 51 runs off 34 balls against Bumrah, including six fours and three sixes, keeping his tally at 150.
Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, the Pakistan opener expressed that the encounter with Bumrah has boosted his confidence against the other Indian bowlers.
“Talking about Bumrah, I don’t think there was only Bumrah in that (Indian) team. They were all some of the best bowlers, like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. So it’s not like there was only Bumrah. But I started with Bumrah. As a player, you get confidence when you hit a good player for a six,” Farhan said.
Farhan scored 57 off 38 balls in the final but it was Tilak Varma’s performance that ultimately secured India victory and the title.
‘I HAVE TO FIND A WAY’
Farhan admitted that facing Bumrah is an uphill task initially, but once the batsman gets past him, the rest of the bowling attack seems less daunting.
“If you look at him, he gave me a hard time in the beginning. He bowled slower, yorkers and bouncers. He swings the ball, bowls with leap and swing. Naturally, he is very difficult to play. So you have to find a way. And once you get past that stage, the rest of the bowlers look easy, I think,” Farhan said.
Pakistan opener top run-scorer during T20 World Cup 2026amass 383 runs from six matches. However, he did not get a chance to face Bumrah during the tournament as he was dismissed in the first over by Hardik Pandya in the India vs Pakistan clash.
Bumrah finished the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 scalps from eight matches.
