
NEW DELHI: In a shocking development, the CCTV surveillance system at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium was damaged on the day of the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans on April 24, according to a Deccan Herald report.The report said more than 240 cameras were found to be malfunctioning, disrupting surveillance in key security areas on the day of the match.Despite the chaos, defending champions RCB successfully chased down Gujarat Titans’ massive 205/3 in 18.5 overs.The Cubbon Park police acted swiftly and booked two persons – Manjunath (37), a resident of Hiriyur in Chitradurga, and Abdul Kalam (19) from Uttar Pradesh.

Both the accused were working under the subcontractor of IVS Digital Solutions, which provided digital services during match days,” said a senior police officer.Who made the complaint?According to the report, Aditya Bhat, an employee of Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, a Gurugram-based company that provides AI-driven tracking solutions during match days, has lodged a complaint with the police.He alleged that Manjunath and Abdul entered the CCTV control room without valid credentials. He also accused them of damaging the Network Video Recorder (NVR) systems and related optical connections.CCTV footage allegedly shows the duo entering restricted areas.Due to the disruption, officials were unable to provide live surveillance to police personnel deployed at the stadium.What was the reason for the damage?During the investigation into the allegations, they reportedly told the police that they had not been paid dues of Rs 10 lakh.
