Two mothers from different corners of West Bengal and from different social backgrounds are fighting the Assembly elections with one goal: to get justice for their daughters who were killed in various gruesome incidents in the state.
Ratna Debnath from Panihati Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas has emerged as the key face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) campaign. For Ms Debnath, whose daughter – a doctor – was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital and Medical College in August 2024, the election is a personal quest for justice for her daughter.
