NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya missed the match against Delhi Daredevils due to a virus but is set to return for the five-time champions’ away match against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Tuesday. Pandya traveled with the rest of the team immediately after the afternoon game in Delhi and will resume training after staying out of action for the past few days. At the toss, stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Pandya was unwell and “not looking good”. “He is not well, he is not looking well, so he was not fit for today’s match. So he just stepped into the shoes today,” said Surya at the toss.

After a disciplined effort with the ball, Delhi, riding on the master class of Sameer Rizvi, chased down the total in just 18.1 overs and handed MI their first defeat of the season. MI’s next game is against the unbeaten Rajasthan Royals, who come into the game after convincing wins in their first two games against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. The Riyan Parag-led team is currently at the top of the table, thanks to a healthy clean run.
