Cantonment police have registered a case against filmmaker PT Kunju Muhammed for sexually harassing a film activist during the screening of films at the upcoming International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
The filmmaker, who is in charge of heading the selection committee for the film category at the MFFK, was accused of indecent behavior with a colleague at a hotel after a screening of the film last month. The complainant subsequently wrote to the Chief Minister, who forwarded the complaint to the President of the State Police.
The police ascertained the presence of the complainant and the accused in the hotel through camera recordings. The accused was charged under Sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75(1) (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
