India’s tour of Sri Lanka: SLC identifies window for two Tests, no word yet on T20Is
NEW DELHI: The Indian men’s cricket team is set to tour Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in the second half of August this year as part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, Cricbuzz reported on Monday.The exact dates of the series are yet to be finalised, but Cricbuzz quoted Sri Lanka Cricket sources as saying that the matches are to be played between August 15 and 27. The three T20 Internationals that were earlier expected to be part of the tour are still not confirmed.The two Tests will take place after the Lanka Premier League, which ends on August 9. The identified window for the series has been shared with all stakeholders, including the Indian team.BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia traveled to Sri Lanka as part of an ICC delegation to assess the cricket situation in Sri Lanka, which was recently dissolved by the government led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Meanwhile, an interim body called the Sri Lanka Cricket Transformation Committee was appointed.India will resume international cricket on June 6 with a Test against the Afghanistan national cricket team in Mullanpur, followed by a three-match ODI series. India will then tour Ireland, England and Zimbabwe and then Sri Lanka.India are currently fifth in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with four wins and four defeats from nine matches. They have 52 points and a 48.15 points percentage.Sri Lanka are fourth in the table, although they have played only two matches in the current 2025-2027 WTC cycle.
