The video, titled “See the cost of living in the US,” went viral on social media, garnering more than 17,800 likes and several comments. Focusing on the value of human life, public safety and emergency response in various countries, the video opens with the statement: “If anyone wants to know how important life is, they should come to America.”
Amazed by the rapid arrival of several emergency vehicles at the scene, Raja said in the video: “In the US, look at the value of life. If you want to know that, look at America. This is an elderly man, he was injured, he fell while walking. Within five minutes, a police car, an ambulance and a fire truck came to save him. Someone called here,” he said, adding that the vehicles arrived within seconds.
A local resident, who found the elderly man in need of help, called 911 and asked for help. It was the spontaneous arrival of police, ambulance and fire vehicles within minutes that surprised him. The clip, which has amassed over 4.39 million views, shows San Diego Fire Rescue tending to an injured man on a road corner while police and other emergency workers stand by. A stretcher can also be seen at the spot, which is next to a traffic light on a busy road.

Raja, who stopped at a traffic light and noticed the reaction happening in front of him, compared the situation to the situation in India, saying: “The light was green, I stopped and saw it. There was a bit of a traffic jam, but in a few minutes the vehicles came. You see in front of you, the man is standing there, they brought a stretcher for him, there is a police car parked, a fire ambulance and in India there is a brigade?”
Reaction on social networks
The video sparked reactions on social media, with one user writing: “Bra, that’s the difference between developed and developing countries.”
Another user commented: “This is exactly how emergency response should work everywhere.”
A third user said: “The value of life is reflected in how quickly the system responds during a crisis.”

A fourth user said: “This kind of response gives people confidence that help will arrive when needed.”
A fifth comment read: “India also needs stronger emergency response systems, especially in congested cities.” Another user added: “It’s not just about America, it’s about discipline, systems and accountability.”
A sixth user replied: “Don’t be fooled by such videos. I live in the US. The injured person has to pay for the treatment/aid and the ambulance fees. The charges depend on the city, but the first aid and ambulance fees will be almost 1500-2000 USD or 1.3-1.5 million rupees. Even if he has insurance, immediate medical attention out of pocket will cost you more than 1000 USD.”
A seventh user replied: “Fees are not for poor people who get free help. Fees are only for people who are paid above a certain limit.”
Another user wrote: “In India we also pay taxes but why don’t we get such services? This is how people die – life has no value and corruption is rampant in this area.”
