This comes in the middle of the escalation of economic tension between India and the US over the policy of Trump’s administration on trade and tariff.

“They have tariffs against us. China that kills us tariffs. India kills us tariffs. Brazil will kill us,” Donald Trump said in an interview, claiming that tariffs understand “better” than anyone else.
“I understood the tariffs better than any human being in the world. And now with my tariffs everyone dropped them. India was the most highly valuable nation … And you know what, no tariffs offered me anymore in India.”
“If I had no tariffs, they would never make this offer. They would never make this offer. So you have to have tariffs. We’ll be economically strong,” he said.
India “won’t use us”, says Donald Trump
