India will host the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy in Mumbai in Vadodara in 2027
India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027, with Mumbai and Vadodara hosting the six-team tournament from February 14-28. The Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium will host the landmark competition featuring Australia, England, India, New Zealand, ICC on Wednesday, September, ICC, South Africa, South Africa.
Pakistan will not participate in the tournament. The six participating teams qualified based on their position in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of the cut-off date of 6 July. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format where each team will play the other five sides. The top two teams at the end of the league stage will advance to the final on February 28.
The the tournament was originally allocated to Sri Lankabut its hosting rights have now been transferred to India as Sri Lanka Cricket continues to implement governance reforms outlined by the ICC.
The ICC Council raised concerns about the governance of cricket in Sri Lanka at its annual conference in July. She noted that the SLC has made progress towards the adoption of a revised constitution while stressing the need for elections to be held as soon as possible. Sri Lanka Cricket has also been withheld from representation at ICC Council meetings for the time being.
Before recommending India, the ICC assessed three potential replacement hosts, Bangladesh, India and South Africa, against its established host evaluation criteria. The decision was subsequently ratified by the ICC Council on September 2.

The move gives India another opportunity to host a major women’s cricket event after hosting the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025. It also adds another major competition to the women’s cricket calendar, with the Champions Trophy part of the ICC’s efforts to host a major women’s event every year.
ICC chairman Jay Shah said the inaugural edition would bring together the best teams in “intense, high-quality competition” while providing further motivation for teams to climb the ranks and compete on the global stage.
“With a dedicated ICC women’s event now held every year, we have a significant opportunity to gain more momentum, provide more consistency and create a stronger rhythm for the women’s game, its players and its fans around the world,” he said.
This will be the fourth major ICC tournament hosted by India in the last four years. The 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup, the 2025 Women’s World Cup and the Men’s T20 World Cup saw India reach the finals, with the hosts winning the last two.
