Trump tariffs: The President of the United States Donald Trump on Wednesday 30 July 2025 ordered 25% of the tariff rate on all imports from his “friend” nation in India, with effect from 1 August 2025, referring to the high rates of the Asian Nation tariffs.
“Remember, while India is our friend, over the years we have been doing relatively few shops with them, because their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world, and have the most strenuous and unpleasant non -monetary trade barriers to any country,” Trump said in his social contribution to Truth.
Hours before storing 25% of tariffs in India, at the top of an existing 10% basic import duty on all American imports, Donald Trump said that even though India is a good friend for the US, the nation charged “more tariffs” than almost any other nation.
“Yeah, I think so. India is my friend. At my request, they ended the war with Pakistan … Agreement with India is not completed. India was a good friend, but India charged more tariffs than almost every other country …” President Trump told reporters on board Air Force One.
What did Trump said?
US President Donald Trump, who announced tariffs in India through his social post of truth, said India was a “overwhelming majority” to the buyers of military equipment and oil from Russia. He even claimed that it allowed the war in Ukraine.
Donald Trump emphasized the rate of tariffs as 25%and stated that import rates for all Indian goods to the United States would be effective from 1 August 2025.
“They have also always bought the vast majority of their military equipment from Russia and are the largest Russian energy buyers, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to stop killing in Ukraine – all things that are not good! India pays a 25%tariff.
India-USA business conversations

The Indian delegation was led by the main negotiator and a special secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Rajesh Agrawal and the US delegation led the US sales representative for South and Central Asia, Brendan Lynch.
