Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday (Oct 17, 2025) said India Post will introduce a guarantee-based mail and parcel service with delivery times of 24 hours and 48 hours.
The minister said 24-hour and 48-hour mail delivery and next-day delivery will start from January.
“We are going to launch new products with guaranteed delivery of mail and parcels. There will be a 24-hour Speed Post service that will deliver mail within 24 hours. Similarly, there will be a 48-hour Speed Post with delivery within 48 hours,” Mr. Scindia said.
These services will be launched in January, he added.
He said there will be similar next day delivery services that will deliver next day delivery, currently around 3-5 days.
The minister said the government’s aim is to transform India Post from a “cost centre” to a “profit centre” by 2029.
