The T20 World Cup semi-final between the Indian national cricket team and the England cricket team turned into a star-studded spectacle at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday with several Bollywood celebrities and cricket legends to witness the crucial clash.
Even before the start of the match, fans and cameras caught the eye of an interesting moment. Former India captain Rohit Sharma, who led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024, was seen sharing a light conversation with current captain Suryakumar Yadav near the field.
The brief conversation between the two Indian stars created excitement among fans in the stadium and on social media, with many interpreting it as imparting wisdom ahead of the high-pressure match.
In the toss, England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to bowl first. Suryakumar Yadav said that India would also prefer to bat, noting that the pitch looked good for batting and the conditions looked favourable.
Meanwhile, the stands at the Wankhede were filled with some familiar faces from the world of cricket and entertainment.
Former India captain MS Dhoni was spotted at the stadium watching the semi-final. Dhoni, who is rarely seen at the match venue, had reportedly arrived in Mumbai earlier in the day to attend the wedding ceremony of Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
Bollywood stars were also present to cheer the Indian team. Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were seen at the stadium along with their daughter Raha Kapoor. The actors were seen in the company of Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani and Akash Ambani.
Actors Anil Kapoor and Varun Dhawan were also among the celebrities present who added to the electrifying atmosphere at the iconic Mumbai venue.
