New Delhi: The Indian Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) has launched a mobile application that allows consumers to electronically interact with restaurants and restaurants and increase concerns about safety and hygiene, in a move that seeks customers and support transparency.
In communication of July 25, the food regulator orders that food sales, including restaurants, Dhabas, cafes and restaurants, prominently display their licenses and FSSAI registration with quick response (QR) code linked to food safety applications.
This strategic location is central to FSSAI communication that orders all food business operators (FBO) to prominently display their license or registration copy containing this QR code at key locations such as inputs or billing counters for customers to easily see each other. Mint reviewed a copy of the road issued by Rrakesh Kumar, Director (Director of Regulatory Compliance) in FSSAI, to all food services companies across the country.
Strengthening the position of consumer
The application is designed to seize several key features to consumers. Users can easily file complaints about food safety and hygiene problems. “The application allows consumers to report misleading requirements for food products. Consumers have access to basic information on licensed/registered FBOs and support transparency. The application keeps the users informed about the initiatives and alerts of food safety,” according to communication.
Kumar emphasized the importance of this initiative and urged all FBOs to actively support the program by ensuring a wide visibility of QR code of the application in their devices and actively support its use among customers. To make it easier, FSSAI provided QR code to all FBOS.
Kumar said the start of the application represents a proactive step FSSAI to increase consumer participation in maintaining food quality and safety and supports more transparent and responsive food ecosystem throughout India.
A critical feature of the application is its effective system of complaints. If a complaint is filed via the application, it will be automatically directed to the authority of the particular food company. This automation ensures quick axles and significantly minimizes delays in addressing food safety complaints, leading to faster resolutions and improved responsibility.
Right now, if a person has a food safety complaint, he can directly approach a restaurant manager or take a food sample to a safety bike (a portable food test laboratory) or other food testing laboratories.
In addition to the FSSAI physical space, FBO also encourages the QR code “Safety Connect” or direct link to download to their digital platforms such as websites and online order portals wherever it is usable. This ensures a trouble -free experience for consumers dealing with online businesses.
