
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday, June 20 that he refused to invite US President Donald Trump to visit Washington and instead decided to visit Odisha, the sacred country of Lord Jaganath.
PM Modi arrived in Odisha 20 June, the day after returning from his five -day trip to Cyprus, Canada and Croatia.
“Just two days ago I was in Canada at the G7 summit and US President Trump called me. He said because you came to Canada, go through Washington, we will be along with great urgent.
From Canada, PM Modi traveled to Croatia before June 20 returned to India.
President Trump invited Prime Minister Modi to meet during his current visit to the US, but because of the existing schedule, PM Modi could not accept the invitation. Both leaders agreed to meet in the near future, said Foreign Minister Vikram Misri 18. June.
Trump’s meeting with General Munir
The phone call comes hours before the lunch meeting of US President Donald Trump with the Pakistani chief of the army staff General Asim Munir. Trump welcomed General Munir in the White House on Wednesday. The Prime Minister chaired the state level in Bhubaneswar to commemorate the completion of one year of ODISH’s government on Friday evening.
PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth £18 600 crore. These projects will include critical sectors, including drinking water, irrigation, agricultural infrastructure, health infrastructure, rural roads and bridges, parts of national highways and new railway lines.
