II PU Exam, Card Fee and more up to 50% from this academic year in Karnataka

After almost eight years, examination fee, examination admission fee, mark fee and others for II PU students in both government and private colleges across the state have increased by 50%.

The government order stated that the Department of Pre-University Education and Karnataka State Examinations and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has proposed to increase the examination fees and other related fees.

A KSEAB official said, “The increase in examination fee was proposed two years ago and was not increased due to various reasons. The same fee has been continued since 2018. Now that the cost of paper and printing has increased, the fee had to be increased as well.”

With this increase, the examination admission fee has increased from ₹400 to ₹600, the migration fee has increased from ₹480 to ₹720. Repeaters have to pay ₹210 instead of ₹140 for one subject, ₹405 instead of ₹270 for two subjects, ₹600 instead of ₹400 for three subjects. Meanwhile, the practical exam fee has been increased from ₹ 110 to ₹ 165 per subject.

For the first time, the Department has included a fee of ₹2,000 for II PU Marks Card Verification for Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and for Foreign Universities.

Students are not happy with this move. Karthik M, studying at Government PU College, Rajajinagar, said, “My father and mother are flower sellers and this hike will put a strain on us.

Likitha, a student of a private college in Vasanth Nagar, said, “My father is a private bus driver and my mother is a housewife. Due to financial constraints, I have been admitted to a private college where my fee is ₹ 95,000 per year. Increasing exam fee, card fee by almost 50% is a burden on my parents. I can’t even wait from a private student until I demand the fee.”

Meanwhile, there is a demand for an increase in the assessment fee from lecturers. AH Ningegowda, president, PU Lecturers’ Association, said, “The evaluation pay depends on the number of papers evaluated. It is ₹ 36 for one answer script evaluation, which remains the same for five years. The lecturers across the state have not received a single penny from the second round of paper evaluation of the II PU exams conducted recently.”
