Idukki witnessed strong rainfall on Saturday. In various parts of the district, insulated incidents of trees and landslides were reported. Road parking is forbidden on Sunday on the section of the Gap Road Road National Highway Kochi-Dhanushkodi. The district collector ordered the main plantation inspector to ensure the temporary suspension of the work of the plantation sector due to growing chances of accidents related to the fall of trees. The collector also ordered to stop mining activities in the district due to heavy rainfall alerts.
Kallarkutty, Lower Periyar, Ponmudi and Malanka are opened.
The water level in the IDUKKI tank increased to 2,370.40 ft on Saturday, compared to 2,356.92 ft on the same day last year. The flood area of the dam has seen 61.40 mm of precipitation in the last 24 hours. Energy production at the Moolomattom power plant is of a high level, while 11.088 MU is generated on Friday.
Water level at the Mulperiyar dam on Saturday was 133.70 ft.
