The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Tuesday cultivated 2.3 acres of government land in Bachupally, Medchal-Malkajgiri district and secured another 30 guntas earmarked for the MRO office, making the two parcels free from encroachment.
The 2.3-acre plot was allotted for a public park in 2016 by the then District Collector. The site was subsequently landscaped with a plantation, an urban nursery and infrastructure including a borehole, sump, watchman’s room, iron gates and fencing.
However, in 2023, some private individuals allegedly destroyed the plants, removed the nursery and built a compound wall overnight, claiming the land as their property.
Based on the complaint received through the Prajavani programme, HYDRAA conducted a field inspection with the officials concerned and confirmed the land as park space. On the instructions of HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, the agency on Tuesday removed encroachments, restored fencing and installed boards identifying the land as government land.
HYDRAA has also cleared encroachments in the adjoining 30 guntas in the same numbers of surveys allotted for the MRO office, fencing the land and erecting official boards, the press reported.
Mr. Ranganath also inspected Khajaguda Lake on Tuesday in view of reports of tampering of its barrage and sluice gates.
