The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has urged more citizens to join the water conservation effort through the PAANI mobile app. By Wednesday, 437 people had voluntarily registered through the council’s website.

Anyone can register as a ‘Save Water Volunteer’ through and then download the PAANI app from the Google Play Store. This allows individuals to identify and report drinking water wastage or misuse in their area.

Authorities can highlight problems such as using potable water to wash vehicles or floors, overflowing water tanks or other forms of water wastage. Based on reports from volunteers, officials will conduct field inspections and take appropriate action once violations are verified. The identity of the volunteers will be kept confidential.

The board has called upon residents of every colony, housing complex, gated community and residential area to step forward as water warriors.
